I feel like moments of clarity or reflection in today's busy, busy world are too few and far between. Goodness, there are times when I'm at work and I wonder if I've completely lost my marbles because I'm trying so hard to multi-task! I had one of these rare moments just last night and would have shared it with you right away but by golly it was way past my bedtime, so here's the story:
Last night I was in my car waiting for some ice cream that I didn't need but told myself it was justified due to the volleyball and softball game I played. Anyway, I noticed a few lightning bugs here and there and it made me think of a couple things...first I was reminded of simpler times as a child and trying to catch lightning bugs out and Grandma & Grandpa Rozmiarek's. I remember it was such an accomplishment to catch one and try to get it into a jar for a little collection! Second, I compared myself to a lightning bug...how I feel like I have moments of "brilliance" and I shine my light in this otherwise dark world. For example, helping a patient become more independent and able to go back home with his wife, or maybe lending a helping hand to a friend who needs to move furniture. I feel like we are all God's little lightning bugs and off and on we shine light into each others' lives. And if you think about it, the more we are near others with the same goal, we could provide constant light and share our brilliance with those who have no knowledge of it!
Ok, it could be a stretch, but it gives you some food for thought and a nice little visual of light coming out of our behinds, just like lightening bugs! If anything, maybe this gave you some encouragement to share some of your inner light...
