I have been itching to write this post for the last few hours because I just want everyone to hear about how weird of a day it was! My good friend Katie and I had made plans to go to Hastings after work today to visit one of our past patients we fell in love with...we had decided to drive separately so then I could spend some time with my boyfriend (and yes I threw his label out on purpose)! Well listen to how the day went...
On my way to work this morning my trusty Cobalt named Clara decided to turn off the power steering...I got her pulled into a gas station and another dear co-worker came to pick me up so I was at work on time! Katie and I adjusted our plans so we would just ride to Hastings together and I would somehow get my car to the dealership to get fixed. After work Katie drove me to my car and I had mentally prepared my bilateral upper extremities for the forceful steering I had to undertake to get Clara where she needed to be. Well lo and behold my power steering worked but now my check engine light was on! I was so confused I didn't even notice Katie stopped following me and was yelling at me that her brakes had given out!
How funny...here Katie and I were in the parking lot of a Pump & Pantry, her car with broken brakes and mine with faulty power steering. She called a towing service and I called my parents, I gathered random snacks and we just enjoyed some laughter and bonding sitting in my car. We both decided God didn't want us in Hastings today for some odd reason! It's also one of those days that made me realize we really have control over how we respond to situations. Katie and I discovered humor in the irony when we could have easily been disappointed and frustrated. At the end of the day we both got home safe and sound and have a new memory to add to our friendship...we may never know how or why these events took place today of all days but that is just fine!
