My Small Town

As my inspiration for this blog so rightly came from the small town I grew up in, I am finally reunited with its simplicity and comfort for Thanksgiving break. I have often wondered what is it about small-town rural Nebraska that makes everything seem "right?"  Could it be the quiet breeze blowing over open harvested fields?  Or could it be that the likelihood of running into an old friend increases from 2% to 98%?  Whatever it is, everything seems better and more real, compared to when I am in the city.

To me, life seems much more meaningful in the rural towns.  In the "big cities" I feel like just another drop of water in the ocean--indistinguishable from the others.  But here, I am individual and unique and truly believe that fulfilling my purpose is much more possible.  God did some lovely work creating these simple, small towns & the countryside and I feel that only so many of us appreciate the wonder and beauty of it all.  For me, it took about five years of being away from this lifestyle to realize how much I missed it.

I urge you to think about why you love "small town life."  Feel free to comment too-I'd love to hear from you!
