Starry Night

This morning I woke up too early for my apartment work-out room. While I was fairly frustrated I missed out on an extra 1/2 hour of sleep, I actually saw stars in the Omaha night sky on my walk back to my apartment! What a rare occasion! I'm not sure if it's usually because of clouds or the city lights, but I cannot remember a night where I've seen more than one star since I've been I'm in Omaha (which is why I appreciate the night sky when I go home to rural Nebraska)!

Do you ever notice the simple, little things God has graced you with? Yes, some of God's wonderful creations are massive and unfathomable, and believe me, those are breathtaking too! Even though we have an amazingly powerful God who created all those massive wonders and who loves us farther, wider, higher, and deeper than we can ever understand, He also created the most minuscule occurrences that we can take pleasure in. Take a starry night for example...or the birds' "chirp-chirp" singing in the morning. How about thick, wet snowflakes falling from the sky and the faint smell of dirt in the air that signifies home? There are simple clues all around you that represent God and his love for us. Feel free to comment and share one you love the most!

  1. I love walking outside and hearing the birds chirp and seeing the trees, with the leaves falling to the ground or budding with new flowers. In the city, it's a reminder that God is with me, even if I am not visibly in His open space.

  2. Love, love those starry nights--when I was in school in DC, I realized how blessed we are for the wide-open skies in Nebraska. When I related that to one of the guys from South Dakota living with me out in DC, we had an "aaaah" moment. From that day on, I told him that forever, I would offer a prayer for him when I happened out on one of the awesome starry nights--4 years later, and I still do.
